Sofie Jane Risa was baptized this past Sunday. She wore the same dress that my mom was baptized in and a sweater that my mom-in-law whipped out for her.
She was named after her Great Great Grandmother, Sophie Derby who was quite the cook and ran the Derby Cafe in South Dakota (and there were some great aunt Sophie's on my mom's family tree). We liked the Swedish spelling with the "f" (she's got Swedish on both sides). Jane simply because we liked it! And Risa (Latin for laughter) because she was such an easy delivery she literally came out while I was laughing. After a few months of non stress tests and ultrasounds she came out as healthy as can be and we're so grateful!
Such a special girl - we love you Sofie Jane!
"Little Child, for you Jesus Christ came to this earth, struggled and suffered; for your sake He crossed Gethsemane and went through the darkness of Calvary; for your sake He cried: 'It is finished'; for your sake He died and for your sake He overcame death; indeed for your sake, little child, and you - still - know nothing of it. And thus the word of the apostle is confirmed: We love God, for He loved us first."
