Easter Egg Hunting

The other family and all their kids got sick and couldn't come so Asa hunted eggs with Nana.  This meant that he had time to stop, open each egg, and eat the contents before moving onto the next!

Easter Breakfast

My parents and Mike's parents came over for breakfast before church.  (All the pictures with people in them are on Dad C's camera.)

Mini Easter Baskets with candy and cookies.

Mike's perfectly dyed egg.

Mom's Hot Cross Buns and organic eggs (no dyeing!)

Easter Eggs

Aunt Maggie, Nana, and Poppy came over to dye eggs yesterday!
Asa loved mixing up all the colors.

Some of the finished product - (We tried out the silk tie dye method on those red ones.  It worked really well and we learned a couple wrapping tricks and tips in the process for a better end product.)

Pop's Bday!

My dad's birthday is this Thursday but due to scheduling conflicts we celebrated tonight. Mom made steak and hamburgers for dinner. Naphtali and I brainstormed and decided to do an "art themed" cake (what else reallly?!). Safeway printed out one of his paintings on edible paper (it dissolves into the frosting) and we made a strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream to put it on.
We took an idea from What's New Cupcake and created an artist's palette to go with it.
(What's New, Cupcake?: Ingeniously Simple Designs for Every Occasion)
He was pretty surprised!
Poor Amara got sick last minute so they didn't get to come celebrate with us. (Asa ate her portion.)

House Projects

We've been working around the house quite a bit lately - trying to get things prepped before the baby arrives!  Here's my green house (thanks Mom and Pop!) working great!  We're almost ready to move it outside to start hardening things off.  Greenhouse from here: Gardman R687 4-Tier Mini Greenhouse.
Mike put up chair rail in the baby's room.  And thanks to Laura, we got the fabric circles and bassinet bedding finished.  (We still have bedding to put on and stuff to hang so we're not quite there yet.)

My dad finished painting these canvas squares!  Aren't they fun?  So we're making progress - we'll see if the checklist can get completed in the next 4 weeks.  (That checklist includes picking a name....)
